Dr. Jim Yates, Doctor of Chiropractic

Let me take this opportunity to introduce myself to you. I head the team that provides Chiropractic and Acupuncture services to the Auckland area. We have the largest, state of the art facilities in all of New Zealand. My diverse training in the USA gives our facilities a unique and broad based approach to diagnosing and treating your problems.
I was first introduced to chiropractic after injuring myself in the gym in the mid-1980s. I already had a Bachelor of Science degree so it wasn’t long before I was enrolled in the chiropractic program at Life Chiropractic College West in San Francisco. Four years later I received my Doctor of Chiropractic degree. Before immigrating to New Zealand in 2004, I practiced in Northern California for many years; covering the full gamut of healthcare from wellness to headaches, back aches, non-surgical management of disc herniations, whiplash/car accidents and various work-related injuries.
Having fallen in love with New Zealand, I am now a citizen living in Parnell. For three years, I was full time faculty member of the New Zealand College of Chiropractic and continued there on a part time basis until last year.
Since I held the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners (NBCE) qualification in Physiotherapy in the USA, I use a combination of soft tissue work, massage, heat, ice, stretching, gentle specific chiropractic spinal adjustments, exercise programs, Spinal Decompression Therapy both Flexion Distraction and Inversion Therapy & TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation). We also refer as necessary to other health care providers to get the best results possible given your personal situation.
Dr. Claire Haymon, Chiropractor
Following the completion of a Bachelor of Health Science degree in my hometown of Adelaide, South Australia, I moved overseas where I spent the next 4 years working as an assistant to one of the top Orthopedic Specialists in London. My interest in Chiropractic began after seeing first hand the change in my health following many teenage years of ill-health, in addition to the relief my father received from Chiropractic care for his chronic neck pain. I have not looked back since. My goal at Parnell Chiropractors is to help everyone reach their full potential; whether that be getting top marks at school, scoring the winning try at the weekend rugby match, or reducing the stress and tension commonly associated with todays lifestyle. You are never too young or too old to experience the benefits Chiropractic care has to offer you. I particularly welcome babies, children and pregnant women in coming to see me.

Dr. Sean Kim, Chiropractor
Before immigrating to New Zealand in 2003, I was studying a Masters in Music (Violin) in Germany. My parents immigrated to Auckland from Seoul, Korea in 2003. When I returned from Germany my sister was suffering from severe back pain. She went to see a Chiropractor and all her symptoms went away. It was amazing to me. The following year I had completed the prerequisites and was enrolled at the New Zealand College of Chiropractic. While I studied there I met Dr. Yates since he was one of our teachers. I was very happy when he invited me to join him in practice since the Auckland area has such a large Asian population. I live in Auckland with my wife Halim. I have studied Chinese Mandarin and also speak some Japanese along with Korean so the opportunity to practice in Central Auckland suits me well.

Dr. Sima Pir, Chiropractor
A few years ago life opened another door to a very wonderful world, “The World of Chiropractic”. An amazing world that fulfilled my life with whatever I wished for. With chiropractic care I feel younger and healthier and I am aware of my body’s abilities now. I know now that my body is so intelligent and is able to heal itself, and the only thing it needs is a light force to initiate it, chiropractic care provides that force. Four years later I had received my Bachelor of Chiropractic degree from the New Zealand College of Chiropractic. My multilingual skills are well suited for treating the diverse population that we have in Auckland. I speak English, Farsi, Kurdish, and Iranian.

Western and Oriental medicine are on the same track in terms of harmonizing the body and pain management. Since I stepped into the field of oriental traditional medicine as a natural therapist, I have been completely dedicated to managing both mental and physical harmony by using oriental traditional therapy. I believe that the most common internal and external health issues ranging from migraine, gynecological issues to injury are caused by imbalances of the body. Anyone interested in regaining the natural balance of their body are welcome.
